Indian architecture has evolved through countless centuries due to the influence of different rulers and civilisations. A popular area with beautiful architecture is The Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra state. The caves consist of 30 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE.
